The new measures include:

  • Increased frequency of cleaning and disinfection of high-touch surfaces in the airport, including restrooms, gate areas, and baggage claim
  • Provision of hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the airport
  • Encouragement of social distancing measures, including the use of floor markers to indicate safe distances in queues
  • Posting of signage throughout the airport with information on how to prevent the spread of the virus
  • Restriction of access to the airport to essential personnel only, with the exception of ticketed passengers
  • Implementation of temperature screenings for all passengers and employees upon entry to the airport
"The health and safety of our passengers and employees is our top priority," said Kansas City Aviation Director Patrick Klein. "We are taking every possible step to protect our community from the spread of this virus." The new public health measures are in addition to the existing cleaning and disinfection protocols that are already in place at KCI. The airport is also working closely with local health officials to monitor the situation and make any necessary adjustments to its response plan. Passengers are encouraged to check with their airlines for the latest information on flight schedules and any additional travel restrictions that may be in place.
